Photographing help!

As I'm sure you all know I'm no great photographer. Trying to style a photo is terrifying prospect for me!

Yesterday my Annalisa came over to help me. She takes amazing photos of her products and is very talented. You can visit her page Le Dolci Bambole here . Too much cuteness for words is on her page! She makes porcelain dough and creates these incredible little dolls and bears out of them. Take the time to see the minute detail in each one!

Anyway she came over to help me take new and better photos! I've been making altered books and journals, my photos have never done them justice. In fact when people see them in person they take them straight away. This is the only box I have left (available here)! It's an antique philosophy text book from the early 1900s. The pages have been removed and a box contructed! And look at the gorgeous photos!!

Love the idea to include the sweet bunny mum gave me a Christmas!

This an altered journal also made with an emptied antique book (available here). I just love the photos Annalisa took!

Long absence

Wow I didn't realise I hadn't posted anything for such a long time.

Happy New Year to all! Even thought it's a little late!

My first exciting news is Homespun magazine has set up a new website called 'Cosy Project' (site here). You can buy individual patterns from past issues of the magazine  without having to hunt down old issues. Just fabulous!

Many of the projects we've done for Homespun in the past are available on the website too!

You can buy my growth chart pattern here :

So sweet and not too hard to make, a gorgeous keepsake for your kids or grandchildren.

How gorgeous is the cushion by Linda Guy, purchase here :

And this by Natalie Bird pruchse here:

Pop over and have a look there are so many great patterns to keep you busy stitching for a loooong time!

Preparations

This is what a work in progress looks like. When I decide to make a pouch, pillow and so on I never make just one! I just can't because all kinds of fabric combinations pop into my head and I have to make them all!

I usually start from one fabric I love and must include, then through trial and error find others that will co-ordinate. As I go through this process more combinations reveal themselves so I must make them immediately so I don't forget! In this case I will sit there until all are finished, maybe 6 or 7 at a time. I usually can't wait to see the end result and see which is my favourite!
I'll show how these turned out in a future post!

Finally finished!

I started this piece before I went away to Spain and wasn't quite sure what it was going to be - a bag, journal cover, pillow, wall art! The break gave me some clarity and instantly when I looked at it I knew what to do! It has to be hung on the wall! It is available in my shop

To create this lovely piece I hand stitched a nine patch with beautiful antique French fabrics. I then hand quilted them here and there with embroidery floss. At this point I thought 'now what???'. Then it came to me I wanted to do a vase of flowers!

Holidays are over!

I say holidays are over but in reality I've been working like a crazy person! I participated in a wonderful 3 days festival in San Leo. It was great fun! San Leo is a truely beautiful town.

There were all kinds of shows and fireworks on the castle!

I had a stall there which was so much fun and such an honour!

The beautiful view down the street.

Some of my products

I made lots of new bags!

Love making pouches!

Here are some sweet pouches I made recently. Some are still available in my shop here. They are made with antique and vintage fabrics and embroideries. I completed them with handstamped fabrics, trims and handmade buttons.
